Characteristics Of The Fayoumi Chicken
The primary benefit from an Egyptian Fayoumi chickens its medium-sized eggs and its capacity to lay 150 eggs annually. Eggs can either be tinted or off-white.
This chicken breed is a really good forager. They can be left alone to fend for themselves in a free-range environment. They can defend themselves and will not let other flocks bully them. Indeed, they are an economic flock.
The breeds coming from a very hot region, Fayoumi chicken breeds are well suited to hot climates. They are a hardy breed, and single combed. The males are gifted with silver necks. They have saddle hackles, and their bodies are barred with silver and black.
Females have a very dark barred tail, and they also have silver neck feathering as the males. Their elegant plumage is similar to that of the Campine chicken breed.

Behavior/ Temperament/ Use
This chicken breed’s temperament is lively and flighty; they do not want to be handled. They are not broody as pullets, but when they are two to three years of age, they become broody, too. One may try to tame them, but not for long. Thank the treats!
They are very hardy birds. Although bossy, they are not particularly aggressive. Males are tolerant of each other. Their chicks are red-brown, and this chicken breed is fast to mature. Cockerels start to crow at five to six weeks.
Fayoumi hens can lay eggs as early as four and a half months old. They give out layers of small, off-white eggs. For their egg hatching, they need incubation, for they rarely go broody.
